To enable TCP and MPTCP for Visible Light Communication (VLC) networks, we propose Decoupled TCP (DETCP) and Multipath Decoupled TCP (MP-DETCP). Different from regular TCP and MPTCP, decoupling operation to transmission in our new protocols can break through TCP’s limitation to a unidirectional link, and allow users to fully utilize network resources in a VLC hybrid network consisting of a VLC downlink and a complementary uplink (i.e. Ethernet, WiFi, 4G). Check out this paper for more details.
